My friends were trying to think of some of the best golf in the Waccamaw Neck area. There are a few that stick out in my mind, 17 and 18 @ Debordieu, 14 at Founders, 13 and 17 at Pawleys Plantation, 18 at River Club. Those are a few of my favorites, I will think of some more...

The TPC in Murrells Inlet has a hole, and it escapes me which number it is, but you have a carry of about 200 yards over marsh off the tee an depending on the wind is a real attention getter!

People do not know much about Wedgefield in Georgetown, but number 14 is a great hole. I really like the risk reward holes and this is definitley one. Wedgefield is really well priced and a good place to "hit the stick".

This area of the country has many great courses, many of them on highway 17. Some of my favorite holes are 9 and 17 at newly renovated Founders Club. I also like 4 and 18 at true blue, 13 and 14 at Heritage club. 18 is spectacular at Caledonia but don't overlook two excellent par fives 8 and 10. Pawleys would be a fatastic place for a golf vacation!

I really like #1 and #2 at Willbrook. They are two great opening holes. What about Wachesaw, I have never played the Plantation course, but I assume they have a few holes worth mentioning.  I wonder how the private courses are doing during the economic downturn? Take care, I enjoy the posts.

Like Jim says - Pawleys is a great place to play golf - on the private courses Debordieu has been in excellent shape every time I played there.  Some of the views are unbelievable.  There isn't a course on the south strand that doesn't have something for everyone.  Just hit em straight.

I played River Club last week. The greens were in great shape. I have to say I love number 18 at River Club, maybe because I eagled it. Hit e'm straight.

I read they are shutting down Wedgefield in Georgetown. That is a shame, not one single golf course left in Georgetown. I know the course needed some work, but it was always a place you could go to get an inexpensive round of golf.

I hope our golf courses are surviving the economic slowdown. It seems that most courses are pretty wide open. It is a great time to get some good prices on green fees.
